
The lessons of Tikrit
Iraqi government in the hot seat as its allies stand accused of looting a liberated city.
The Shia armed groups have left the city, but the local population complain that they went on a looting spree after Tikrit was retaken from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
Prime Minister Haidar Abadi now faces a tough job as his government’s forces are still trying to recapture other cities controlled by ISIL, especially Mosul.
So, what lessons will be learnt from Tikrit? And would this deepen the sectarian divide in the country?
